Fifteen kilometers north of the archipelago of Sommarøy, the island of Håja rises dramatically out of the sea. A famous icon in the region and the inspiration for the architecture of the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø. You need a solid boat to get there, so this excursion begins with half an hour in a northerly direction in a dramatic and wild landscape. Here we anchor up and lace the laces to move up to the top of Håja 486 meters above sea level.

From here, the top is an easy hour and a half away. We begin in steep terrain that flattens out eventually and the view is panoramic of the islands and the surrounding fjords until we reach the peak that falls vertically into the sea. At the top we lie down and enjoy the beautiful view in autumn colors. After the descent, we return to the boat and head home looking for small whales and sea eagles that thrive in these waters.

If you do not feel like going to the top, it is of course allowed to explore the shoreline on your own while others go to the top.
