4 Days Aurora Adventure on Svalbard
PLEASE NOTE THAT FLIGHTS TO AND FROM SVALBARD ARE NOT INCLUDED AND NEED TO BE ARRANGED SEPARATELY BY THE GUEST.
After your arrival to Longyearbyen’s airport, catch the airport bus to Basecamp Hotel, were you can leave your luggage. For your night at the Trappers station, you will only need a minimum of personal items. We recommend a walk-in town. There are many restaurants close that serve lunch. Your guide will meet you at 7pm. We drive to the Trappers station which is located approx. 10km outside of Longyearbyen. At the Trappers hut we will be served a 2-course dinner. Your guide will also tell stories about the hunting traditions in Svalbard. Accommodation will be in the gamme (wooden teepee type hut), which is a small hut decorated as the small hunting cabins you find around the island. Your guide will be in nearby, and function as your polar bear guard for the night. As will our 90 Alaskan Huskies. Shared accommodation in the wooden tepee.
We start the day with breakfast in the hut. If the snow conditions are good, we harness the dogs for a sledge trip in Bolter valley. Your guide will of course give you instructions. With less snow we`ll go for a hike instead. With the Trappers station located outside of Longyearbyen, means we have less light pollution, and better conditions for spotting northern lights. Svalbard in one of the few places you can spot northern lights at daytime. After the trip, we head back to Longyearbyen, and check in at Basecamp Hotel for the next nights. We recommend dinner at Kroa restaurant next door.
Breakfast at the Hotel. before we go hiking on one of the glaciers close to Longyearbyen. Before we start you are given a headlamp and snowshoes. The guide will teach you the principles of snowshoeing, and determines the route depending on weather and local conditions. Along the way, we will enjoy a hot drink and the breathtaking, dark silence. We will have great view of Advent valley. Your guide will tell stories about the time mining was the main activity in the city. We recommend you to try Huset restaurant for your evening dinner. The reception can help you make reservations.
Breakfast at the Hotel. Visit to the museum before departure to airport. The bus stops outside the hotel.
